Iccrom

ICCROM is an intergovernmental organization dedicated to advancing knowledge in heritage conservation and raising awareness to the importance of protecting cultural assets for better societies. With Member States, its activities touch every region of the world. By cooperating with multiple actors, FAR works to prevent and reduce risks and vulnerabilities. At its core are field-tested methods and tools for protecting cultural heritage before, during, and after a disaster or conflict. FAR enhances coordination in the fields of cultural heritage, disaster risk management, climate change adaptation, urban planning and humanitarian aid, to improve local disaster risk governance. Through the FAR, ICCROM organises courses on cultural heritage first aid, specialized trainings and resilience activities, and provides guidance for developing common approaches and standard operating procedures. Finally, in the event of a complex emergency, the FAR programme can mobilise its network of cultural first aiders to assist with emergency response and the early recovery of cultural heritage.
