Background: This study aimed to compare laparoscopic lavage and sigmoidectomy as treatment for perforated diverticulitis with purulent peritonitis during a month follow-up of the LOLA arm of the randomised LADIES trial. Outcomes were retrospectively collected up to 36 months after randomisation in addition to the prospectively gathered month follow-up.

Lung cancer is responsible for the most cancer-related mortality worldwide and the mechanism of its development is poorly understood. Proteomics has become a powerful tool offering vital knowledge related to cancer development. Using a two-dimensional difference gel electrophoresis 2D-DIGE approach, we sought to compare tissue samples from non-small-cell lung cancer NSCLC patients taken from the tumor center and tumor margin. For ADC proteins, 26 significant canonical pathways were identified, including Rho signaling pathways, a semaphorin neuronal repulsive signaling pathway, and epithelial adherens junction signaling. For SCC proteins, nine significant canonical pathways were identified, including hypoxia-inducible factor-1α signaling, thyroid hormone biosynthesis, and phagosome maturation. Proteins differentiating the tumor center and tumor margin were linked to cancer invasion and progression, including cell migration, adhesion and invasion, cytoskeletal structure, protein folding, anaerobic metabolism, tumor angiogenesis, EMC transition, epithelial adherens junctions, and inflammatory responses. In conclusion, we identified several proteins that are important for the better characterization of tumor development and molecular specificity of both lung cancer subtypes. Cancer is the leading cause of human mortality. Among cancers, lung cancer is the most common in the world and responsible for the most cancer-related mortality worldwide [ 1 ]. The prevention of lung cancer is still a great challenge.

The endocrine system consists of cells, tissues, and organs that secrete hormones as a primary or secondary function. The endocrine gland is the major player in this system. The primary function of these ductless glands is to secrete their hormones directly into the surrounding fluid. The interstitial fluid and the blood vessels then transport the hormones throughout the body. Some of these glands have both endocrine and non-endocrine functions. For example, the pancreas contains cells that function in digestion as well as cells that secrete the hormones insulin and glucagon, which regulate blood glucose levels. The hypothalamus, thymus, heart, kidneys, stomach, small intestine, liver, skin, female ovaries, and male testes are other organs that contain cells with endocrine function. Moreover, adipose tissue has long been known to produce hormones, and recent research has revealed that even bone tissue has endocrine functions.

Communication is a process in which a sender transmits signals to one or more receivers to control and coordinate actions. Together, these two systems are primarily responsible for maintaining homeostasis in the body. The nervous system uses two types of intercellular communication—electrical and chemical signaling—either by the direct action of an electrical potential, or in the latter case, through the action of chemical neurotransmitters such as serotonin or norepinephrine. Neurotransmitters act locally and rapidly.

Criteria used to distinguish the tumor margin during microscopic evaluation by pathologist included determination of invasive margin and borderline between normal and tumor tissue. This procedure provides a more realistic image and depth perception, substantially increasing the spatial perception of the patient's anatomy. Aims: To identify the peculiarities of the management of AC with medium and severe forms, in the Covid19 pandemic period compared to the period before the pandemic. Two proteoforms of carbonic anhydrase 1 CA1 showed changes in the opposite direction: spot increased in abundance in the tumor center, while spot increased in the margin. Today, indocyanine green ICG is commonly used for intraoperative assessment of tissue perfusion, however, its use is complicated by: 1 pharmacokinetics and user interpretation variance; 2 workflow inconvenience; and 3 capital costs.
