Navy Seal that has changed his life to serve his country through trying times that he has been faced with. Directed by Clint Eastwood, this film really showcases more of the emotion behind war and the personal life of Chris Kyle as he is deployed to war. The turbulence that he faces in his personal life with his wife Taya played by Sienna Miller showcases many emotions throughout the film of the struggles of a family in the military wondering if her husband will ever make it home alive to be with their family. The detail in this movie is intriguing especially with close up shots of Chris as he is looking through his telescope to aim at his targets, with him being a key leader in his battalion. As with "Saving Private Ryan", the stories told in war movies are similar with a goal of a mission, yet the emotion and physical torments on the soldier can be horrific as with any war movie, members of the battalion can be killed in an instance. Clint Eastwood did an amazing job directing this film as the angles and lighting attracts different viewpoints of the emotion aspects of war. By Justin Chang. In each of these life-or-death scenarios, Kyle must use what little time he has to swiftly assess whether his targets indeed pose an immediately actionable threat, lest he face recriminations from lawyers, liberals and other members of the Blame America First crowd a point the book drives home far more vehemently than the film. This becomes especially crucial when Kyle and company receive orders to take down the Al Qaeda terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and his vicious second-in-command, the Butcher Mido Hamada , named in part for his imaginative use of power drills. Working as usual with d. Taya seems to have a bad habit of catching her husband on the phone at those unfortunate moments when mortar and shrapnel are exploding around him which is understandably often. In its revelation of character through action, its concern with procedure rather than politics, and its focus on an exceptionally gifted U. Cooper, who packed on 40 pounds for the role, is superb here; full of spirit and down-home charm early on, he seems to slip thereafter into a sort of private agony that only those who have truly served their country can know. A late sequence shot in an impenetrable sandstorm provides the most literal possible metaphor for his own personal fog of war.
