The "Barefoot Contessa" star has been my biggest inspiration as I've gotten more comfortable in the kitchen, teaching me a variety of delicious but easy pastabreakfastand cocktail recipes.

I'm a stay at home mom to a super spunky little girl. She's only 18 months and already full of personality. I love recipezaar and am just getting into the contests and events. It's really helping me break out of my cooking rut. I really appreciate anyone who takes the time to review or post a photo of any of my recipes, good or bad. After all we all have different tastes and suggestions for improvement are always welcome.

A post shared by Ina Garten inagarten. Leave it to Ina Garten to reinstate our cravings for an icebox cake in the dead of Winter. Traditionally, icebox cakes are no-bake desserts made with layers of cookies and fluffy whipped cream. The star ingredient, however, is the type of cookie Ina chooses to use: Tate's Bake Shop chocolate chip cookies. These famous chocolate chip cookies started out at a bakery in Southampton, NY, and have gained well-deserved popularity across the country. The cookies, available at many grocery retailers in the US, are known for being incredibly buttery, crunchy, and thin but not too thin. It's no surprise that Ina, a resident of East Hampton, is a fan of Tate's cookies, and it's clear that they make the perfect base for an icebox cake. Watch the video above to see how it's done, and then get Ina's recipe for the ultimate mocha chocolate treat.

It's not every day we come across a recipe that makes our jaws drop, but Ina Garten's Mocha Chocolate Icebox Cake did just that. It first caught our attention when the Barefoot Contessa posted an Instagram video of the confection being made. Naturally, we dove deeper. Everything appeared somewhat run-of-the-mill, until we realized the secret ingredient that takes this otherwise modest cake to a whole new level of fabulous: Inside the cake Garten places layers of Tate's chocolate chip cookies. Although the deliciously crunchy cookies originated not far from Garten's home in Southhampton, New York, they're now available nationwide. Which is great news, because you're going to want to make this incredible cake ASAP—trust us. Check out the full recipe here. Use limited data to select advertising.

Overall, I think Garten's recipe is a fantastic dessert. Copy Link. I let it set for 24 hours and the cake held its shape well. Easily served Thank u Ina. What I loved most about Garten's cake was that it actually tasted better the longer it sat in the fridge. I continued switching between the cookies and mocha whipped cream until there were five layers of each, ending with a layer of cream on top. I made it into mocha whipped cream and then layered those and put it in the refrigerator, and, oh my God, it makes grown men weep. Made this for alumni friends it was a huge hit. Ina s recipes always make me a great cook. And the cake looked great. I knew I had to end my self-imposed baking ban and give Garten's recipe a chance. In Ina I Trust! The Pepperidge Farm Saulsolito cookies I used were great, maintained crispness. The mocha whipped cream was a pleasant light-brown shade, and the chocolate shavings gave it a special decorative touch — plus a nice pop of color.

I used Pepperidge Farms cookies, too, a crunchy, dark chocolate chip-pecan one, I believe. Garten revealed that she was first inspired by a "fabulous caterer" friend who told her that his easiest recipe was a cake of whipped cream and Nabisco chocolate wafers layered together. When I first saw the recipe for Garten's cake, I thought it would taste similar to tiramisu because they share so many of the same ingredients. I let it set for 24 hours and the cake held its shape well. And the cake looked great. I definitely wouldn't say no to a slice if I saw this at a holiday party. It indicates a way to close an interaction, or dismiss a notification. The key to getting those nice curls? Made this for alumni friends it was a huge hit. It was time to dig in!
