Marvel Studios had yet to really hit their consistent streak of excellence with their second film in the Infinity Saga. While the MCU has become famous for its interconnectivity, almost none of this film has been referenced in the rest of the MCU due to a collection of issues, most notably the recasting of the main character for further films. In fact, The Hulk didn't even look like Edward Norton's Bruce Banner, though there's a pretty interesting reason for that. None of the characters or actors in The Incredible Hulk show up in any of the other films, except for William Hurt and his character General Ross , as well as the character of Bruce Banner himself. This was due to creative differences between Norton and the studio. While there were more than a few problems with the film, one issue fans had was that the monstrous Hulk himself didn't really look like Norton's Banner. This is was deemed odd, especially after other appearances of the Hulk featured in later films looked very much like Ruffalo's version of Banner.
