While influencers wield considerable power and reach, they also bear a responsibility to uphold ethical standards and respect the privacy of others. In many cases, the person may be unaware of the fact that are being recorded and could land in serious trouble after being seen on the public accounts of these influencers who even have millions of followers. Calls for legal intervention to regulate influencer behaviour reflect growing concerns about privacy violations. While legislation may provide a framework for addressing these issues, these are much more complex than what one can imagine and the onus ultimately falls on creators to exercise ethical judgment and uphold principles of consent. The backlash faced by Khurana serves as a wake-up call for influencers to reevaluate the boundaries between content creation and consent.
