J-45 pickguard
By jjrpilot March 13, in Gibson Acoustic. I love this guitar but I'm not a fan of the how thick "flubber" the pickguard is. Do you all have any suggestions for a tortoise shell like, THIN pickguard that J-45 pickguard could replace it with? That shouldn't be a difficult guard to get, j-45 pickguard.
Swapped out my first pickguard Gibson J At the time, I wasn't crazy about the pickguard, but it was such a great sounding guitar and had the other features I wanted early 50s style headstock and chunky neck that I figured I'd get around to changing out the pickguard one day. That day was yesterday -- worked like a charm. Cleaned up the residual glue residue with Ronsonol, polished the surface up with Virtuoso, and installed the new J pickguard made by James Burkett of firestripepickguards. Turned out wonderfully, as can be seen below. If there is one complaint, it is that the geniuses at Gibson didn't allow the nitro finish to dry appropriately before installing the original pickguard, so now I'm left with some impressions in the finish where the previous pickguard was.
