J2 haplogroup

Suprahaplogroup F is believed to have migrated from Africa approximately 50kya.

It is believed to have evolved in Western Asia. Haplogroup J-M is believed to have split from the haplogroup I-M roughly 43, years ago in Western Asia, [1] as both lineages are haplogroup IJ subclades. J-M Transcaucasian origin is defined by the M genetic marker, or the equivalent 12f2. The main current subgroups J-M Armenia highlands origin and J-M Zagros mountains origin , which now comprise between them almost all of the haplogroup's descendant lineages, are both believed to have arisen very early, at least 10, years ago. On the other hand, it would seem to be that different episodes of populace movement had impacted southeast Europe, as well as the role of the Balkans as a long-standing corridor to Europe from the Near East is shown by the phylogenetic unification of Hgs I and J by the basal M mutation. Such a geographic hall [ clarification needed ] is prone to have encountered extra consequent gene streams, including the horticultural settlers. Haplogroup J has also been found among two ancient Egyptian mummies excavated at the Abusir el-Meleq archaeological site in Middle Egypt, which date from a period between the late New Kingdom and the Roman era.

The global distribution of J2-M sub-haplogroups has been associated with Neolithic demic diffusion. We investigated the Neolithic contribution of demic dispersal from West to Indian paternal lineages, which majorly consists of haplogroups of Late Pleistocene ancestry. To accomplish this, we have analysed Y-chromosomes from different ethnic populations, of which belonged to J2-M Comparison of our data with worldwide data, including Y-STRs of individuals and haplogroup frequencies of individuals, suggested a complex scenario that cannot be explained by a single wave of agricultural expansion from Near East to South Asia. Contrary to the widely accepted elite dominance model, we found a substantial presence of J2a-M and J2b-M haplogroups in both caste and tribal populations of India. Unlike demic spread in Eurasia, our results advocate a unique, complex and ancient arrival of J2a-M and J2b-M haplogroups into Indian subcontinent.

In terms of age, the first men with the Haplogroup J mutation lived well before anybody in haplogroups to its right in the tree. But the origination of Haplogroup J is not nearly as ancient as its predecessors, Haplogroups H back through A. When this mutation was new, it first laid down firm footing in Western Asia and spread from there, giving rise to high concentrations of descendants in the Arabian Peninsula.

The date of origin for haplogroup J-M was estimated by Batini et al in as between 19, and 24, years before present BP. E approximately 11, ybp. It is likely that J2 men had settled over most of Anatolia, the South Caucasus and the Zagros mountains by the end of the Last Glaciation 12, years ago. Zalloua and Wells and al-Zaheri claimed to have uncovered the earliest known migration of J2, expanded possibly from Anatolia and the Caucasus. Per research by Di Giacomo , J-M haplogroup spread into Southern Europe from either the Levant or Anatolia , likely parallel to the development of agriculture. Semino et al. Di Giacomo , postulating its initial spread with Neolithic farmers from the Near East.

Author: Maciamo Hay. Last update July Haplogroup J is relatively evenly distributed across all Europe. The only population in which it is absent are the Saami from Lapland. The mutation defining haplogroup J is thought to have taken place some 45, years ago, probably in West Asia. Between the Last Glacial Maximum c. Note that the current nomenclature does not include any subclade called J1a anymore the previous J1a was renamed J1b3a. Although no trace of mtDNA J has been found in Mesolithic or Palaeolithic Europe yet, it is likely that some J lineages recolonised Europe at the end of the glacial period from the Near Eastern refugia, as proposed by Pala et al. If that is the case, this migration would most probably have been conducted by J2a1 lineages, a subclade that is virtually absent outside Europe today, although J1c cannot be excluded yet.

The high incidence of J2a in Italy is owed in great part to the migration of the Etruscans from western Anatolia to central and northern Italy, and to the Greek colonisation of southern Italy. The oldest known J2b sample comes from the Pre-Pottery Neolithic site of Tepe Abdul Hosein in western Iran, dating from approximately 10, years ago. Underhill, Peter A. It is quite possible that these empires aided the dissemination of Haplogroup J. A genetic separation between the North and South of Iran may have also been aided by the deserts separating these regions. Article Talk. She has lectured throughout the United States and international venues on the applications of molecular biology to elucidating ancient and recent genealogical connections. Introduction Population history of India has been under investigation to study the earliest settlement of anatomically modern humans Out of Africa and later to study the demographic episodes of Eurasia 1 , 2 , 3. Retrieved August 6, Supplementary Information. J Hum Genet. It is present in Crete and the Iberian Peninsula, which could also indicate a spread by sea-faring routes in the Mediterranean. To address the above, we investigated the presence of different subclades of HG J2-M in diverse set of Indian populations and their affinities with rest of the world. El-Sibai, M. This appears to be a relatively low frequency J subclade. Unlike demic spread in Eurasia, our results advocate a unique, complex and ancient arrival of J2a-M and J2b-M haplogroups into Indian subcontinent. It is believed to have evolved in Western Asia. BMC Genetics. During and after Neolithic period, agriculturists dominated the land, especially the fertile river valleys In addition, K-Y, which appears to be a primary branch of K-M, has been found in three living individuals from India.
