Upgrade today to benefit from a stronger password, improved MFA with backup codes and access to all your characters from a single log in. Your Jagex Account works with the Jagex Launcher to ensure you can access your characters more easily, while offering the best protection against hijacking. You can also continue to play using the official client or RuneLite via the Jagex Launcher, after you upgrade. Please make sure to read through this blog before you begin your upgrade. We've included a button further down in the blog to let you begin the process rapidly, but want to make sure you have as much information as possible before you upgrade. It is the people who are trying to hijack your account who have the most to gain from you delaying your upgrade.

Jagex Accounts have been an important project for us to improve security and quality of our account systems. Our Beta period has involved a large volume of participants over an extensive period of time, enabling us to fully test our systems with real accounts and ensure everything is operating as expected. Based on the success of the Beta, we're now confident we can exit our Beta period and take our next steps on the Jagex Account journey. The benefits of Jagex accounts are inherently linked with the Jagex Launcher - both are interconnected projects in our mission to improve security and the player experience for our games. As part of our continued rollout of these new systems, from November 7th , players will require a Jagex Account to access the Jagex Launcher. Once this goes live, if you have an existing RuneScape account logged in to the launcher, you will not be impacted by this until you next log out of the Launcher. If you do log out, you will need to upgrade to a Jagex Account to continue using the Jagex Launcher. In the near future after this update goes live, we will also be updating our account creation process to require all new characters to be created via Jagex Accounts to ensure all new players are accessing the game through our modernised account systems. While Jagex Accounts are at the cutting edge of security for RuneScape, it's up to all of us as individuals to stay vigilant online.
