Been dealing with this broken down seat foam for too long and now its killing my back to sit left cheek lower than right. Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions. They re-did the foam in the seats at the same time, so you should be able to contact an upholstery shop that's local and they will do it for you. I would guess, due to age of the vehicle, that they'll likely just need to use the existing foam as a guide to make new. So much more comfortable without the sagging foam that was in there before. I've been looking around for automotive foam or even a place where to buy the original one Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions. It should come as something like 4'x8' blocks of varying thicknesses but sometimes the thinner stuff will come on a roll so you can buy a couple feet of it instead of a huge block. You can always cancel it once you get it or keep it to get things like grommets or nylon webbing and buckles for homemade cargo tie-down straps or grab handles. As far as cutting it goes, the thinner stuff will cut just fine with a sharp pair of scissors, but thicker blocks or carving it into shape would probably take a good knife or saw.

He said that the foam is not removable but bonded to the seat bottom frame and is a nightmare to work on. He really thought Bestop had a better replacement seat. I checked them out and the price of the seat isn't bad, but they seem to required a new frame part that is as expensive as the seat. Has any tried to replace the seat foam?

When Jeep seat cushions lose their original form and begin to crack and tear, your drives feel less like a luxury and more like a painful chore every time you get behind the wheel for a cruise around the Rocky Mountains. Don't settle for mediocre comfort when the wear-and-tear of daily driving catches up to your seat.

Repairing the foam took about 3 hours; I was really taking my time. On that same side there is also a steel wire that just sticks in the bracket, carefully remove. I built up new layers of foam, cutting pieces, gluing them in place, then carefully carving them to shape. Log in Register. It's essentially that very soft and squishy foam common in packaging. Shove that bar as close to the bar in the slot as you can get it and while pushing down attach a hog ring around both of them nice and tight in at least two spots. Trim the foam to the outside edge of the seat on the sides and I did roughly half way down on the front. It would have been nice if I could have fixed the tear, but I didn't want to make this job take all weekend. Off, engine not running On, engine not running. If your cushions are in good shape you can skip down past this section, mine needed attention.
