You can find all sorts of TV shows about experts flipping, renovating and remodeling houses, but "Homestead Rescue" gives the fixing-the-family-home genre a rural spin. The Discovery Channel series features what the press site describes as "expert homesteader Marty Raney, along with his daughter Misty Raney, a farmer, and son Matt Raney, a hunter and fisherman," who team up to help families struggling with their homesteading dreams. Marty embarks on his riskiest build to date trying to cut a road up the cliff while battling against a wall of bedrock. Matt and Misty face a fight of their own if he succeeds, creating a dam to a creek and transforming it into a power source and building a livestock enclosure in a forest that's crawling with mountain lions. Stuck between bedrock and a hard place - in this case a forest crawling with mountain lions - the Raneys embark on a monster build. As Marty faces off with a cliff in a ton excavator, Misty makes plans for an ingeniously watered cliff-top garden, and Matt embarks on an ambitious solution to the homestead's power and predator problem: an off-grid mini hydroelectric dam to run hot-wire fencing. This, of course, isn't the first time Oregon folks have been on the Discovery Channel.
