This result is lower than the manufacturer's rated 4, ANSI lumens.
The N1 Ultra boasts excellent performance on a chassis that streams, spins and pivots. I am, as a general rule, extremely skeptical of product Kickstarters. In my opinion they fall broadly into one of two main categories, and neither instills much confidence. The first: a company looking for a way to get some early pre-review sales and easy marketing. The second: a startup company that realistically has no chance of ever shipping the product. There are exceptions, to be sure -- not enough for me to preorder things, but occasionally a product makes its way through the process that is worthy of checking out.

On paper, it looks great: a bright projector with wide color gamut coverage beyond BT. However, it falls short in the crucial areas of color accuracy and adjustability. Our reviewer Mark Henninger confirmed that the Game mode is essentially just a renaming of the previously existing Computer mode, which he had already determined in his initial review was the preferred mode for gaming thanks to its having the lowest input lag along with relatively high brightness. He also evaluated the 3D playback, which is now reported in the Performance section of the review. Some of its qualities work in its favor. It is pleasing to use with SDR video such as live sports on TV, and it did a good job with video games. Furthermore, it renders an extremely wide color gamut for HDR. However, as you'll read, it offers poor out-of-box color accuracy and little meaningful control over picture parameters to improve the image. It uses a 0. Specifications claim an unusually long 50,hour lifespan, which JMGO attributes to the U2's large chassis allowing for better ventilation and the unit's five cooling fans; these also contribute to the projector's quiet operation. The U2 comes with a 1-year international warranty.
The limited calibration controls are of no consequence as usually 3D is not color calibrated, unlike the other modes.

It's not without its quirks, but the JMGO N1 Ultra is a unique and sophisticated 4K, RGB laser projector that offers good performance, though it needs calibration to achieve real color accuracy. Now, let's delve into its performance and see if it lives up to those specifications. The light engine also incorporates the Quad Layered Diffuser System, which converts the laser spot into a uniform image. This diffuser employs miniature partitions on each layer, with each partition acting as a diffuser. The purpose of increasing the number of partitions to over , compared to the more common figure of just over partitions, is to enhance brightness uniformity. The last part of the light engine is what JMGO calls the Dynamic Light Speckle Reducer LSR , which serves the purpose of changing the amplitude and frequency of the laser as it passes through to reduce laser speckle from the focused laser light. While this may very well be successful at reducing speckle, it does not eliminate it completely as I unfortunately did experience some degree of laser speckle during my time reviewing the N1 Ultra. It was most prominent when the projector backlight was set to anything over 8. The speckle was visible at lower backlight levels as well but most noticeable at higher levels, particularly in red, yellow, or green content.

That's not something I recommend using if you've got the N1 Ultra placed permanently, if you can help it. There are exceptions, to be sure -- not enough for me to preorder things, but occasionally a product makes its way through the process that is worthy of checking out. It is baffling that a projector with such a solid hardware platform would fail to provide the basic tools needed to leverage that technology in the service of creating accurate 4K SDR and HDR projected images. There's no true brightness control -- the adjustment labeled "brightness" adjusts the laser intensity meaning it only makes the whole image dimmer, like a backlight control. The second: a startup company that realistically has no chance of ever shipping the product. I tried versions mastered at 1, nits, 4, nits, and 10, nits. What are their capabilities? Of course, every projector needs firmware to run, and the firmware can make or break the end result. Skip to main content. Even these is some light, you can still see the film clearly.
Special brackets are required for ceiling-mounted installations. The projection methods supported by JMGO N1 Ultra include front projection for front installation, rear projection for front installation, front projection for ceiling installation, and rear projection for ceiling installation.
