It combines a great thematic story about the philosophy of man tampering with nature with great edge of your seat action sequences. It also has a great cast of characters each of which work well in the story, in other words no weak links. A research team is sent to the Jurassic Park Site B island to study the dinosaurs there, while an InGen team approaches with another agenda. A good follow up to the first film but with the exception of the Godzilla like finale of the T-Rex in San Diego there is nothing new or unique that makes it stand out. Jeff Goldblum Ian Malcolm from the first film is there to hold up the film alongside a pretty forgettable new cast of characters in fairly entertaining but rehashed action sequences. There are also cameos by Richard Attenborough John Hammond and by the kids from the first film but they are kind of a glaring reminder of the superiority of the original.
