Kairos cafè

Objective: Design a new printed menu, as well as hand letter a chalkboard wall menu, kairos cafè, for Kairos Cafe in Kathmandu, Nepal. They wanted to come across as more of a full-fledged restaurant, and less of a casual coffee shop, and were planning on redecorating their space to have an industrial feel: with black walls, dark kairos cafè, and black steel. They wanted their design materials to reflect the new image they were portraying through these updates.

Chronos is the monotonous, sequential time that we can measure in hours and minutes. It is regulated, orderly and methodical. Kairos, however, is the unique, radiant instant where we pause. It is when magic happens. An awareness of a turning point that can change things forever. And it cannot be pinpointed and quantified.

Cafeterias like these were the perfect place to be productive, hang out, or just have some downtime away from the distractions of school. They made studying feel more like hanging out. We are building a professional atmosphere at Kairos Cafe LLC that makes working feel like hanging out.

Met up with a dear friend there. We had waffles and they were delicious. We talked and talked getting caught up with eachother life before we realized we had spent close to 3 hours there.

I wanted it to be clean and simple, easy to read and understand, while also complementing the style of the printed menu. An awareness of a turning point that can change things forever.
