I distinctly remember this was my first time I laid eyes on a Kanjeevaram saree, as commonly known to a Mumbaikar, or a Kancheevaram as traditionally called by a south Indian, kanakavalli saree.

South Indian weddings and Kanchipuram aka Kanchivaram silk sarees are inseparable! While the wedding ceremony brings out the finest traditional aspect of an Indian woman, it is the wedding reception, which brings the other contemporary half. As a South Indian, my first saree was a Kanchivaram which I wore for my class 10th farewell!
