He attended Diamond Bar High School in Diamond Bar, California where he went on to become an all-state basketball player and attend the University of Utah on a basketball scholarship. He and his family now live in Colorado and he has 4 grown children and several grandchildren. Some of Keith's interests include travel, fly fishing, boating, cross country skiing, making wine and music. Keith played for the University of Utah from under famed coach Rick Majerus where he went on to be a consensus First Team All-American and finished his career at Utah as all-time scoring leader in school and conference history. He played for the Nets from —, leading the Nets in scoring in the — and — seasons where he averaged over 20 points per game and ranked fifth in the NBA in scoring in the season.
