There's nothing like a Christmas TV ad to get the waterworks flowing and give you the festive feels. Every year it seems that the battle for the most emotionally charged advert gets more and more intense.

My favourite advert this year is the Tesco one where the teenager is trying to ignore Christmas but bit by bit it takes him over. Everyone in the family then ends up dressed as something Christmassy. I like the Guinness one where the froth on top of the drink is singing. They are all dreadful, at least the few I have seen are. Have yet to connect an advert with a specific brand. That's fabulous.

Heart-warming adverts are a reminder of what festive season is all about. We have more newsletters. The heartwarming Charlie's Bar ad - featuring a lonely older man who finds company in the pub - racked up millions of views within days of its posting on social media. To have this aired on UTV alongside massive everyday brands is surreal. Hopefully this will help keep the conversation going about loneliness and the importance of friendship. The video took three hours to film and around 20 hours to edit.

Christmas TV advert time! Nothing says the festive giving season quite like gathering around the television set to watch some TV adverts to fuel our rampant consumerism. A young girl asks her mum who gives Santa presents, and before long the mother-daughter duo are on an overseas trip to the North Pole to treat the big man himself. Along the way, they pass out a variety of perfectly thought out gifts to all the people they meet along the way. A lovely, tongue-in-cheek way to show off the full Boots range and remind us of the spirit of Christmas. Incredible stuff. We watch as bejewelled and oh-so fashionable partygoers — including some gatecrashing policemen — make their way through starters, mains and dessert.
