There is no variation in valve timing of the exhaust cam because the exhaust camshaft is driven by the timing belt. The timing of the intake cam is varied by the relative operation the CVVT vane to the housing. The deviation of the camshaft position from kia dtc p0011 target point is evaluated during stable driving condition. After consulting "The Google", it seems it could be either the solenoid has gone bad, the crank position sensor is faulty, or that the timing chain could be stretched and is now lose. I checked the solenoid with my multimeter, it came back as 8. Not sure if being 1 Ohm overspec is enough to cause problems. I'd like to check the crank position sensor next if possible, but I'm not sure if I can test it with just a multimeter. Also seems to be a bit of a pain to get access to, so any tips there would be appreciated. Checking the chain seems to be as straightforward as taking the cam cover off the engine and visually inspecting the chain, but I would like to save that option for last if I can. The VVT solenoid isn't gonna get controlled until the engine is off idle and likely with the transmission in gear. Has a problem been found?
