From a strange meteor he crafted the Orb of Ra, an extremely powerful object with possible godly connections. Exposure to the Orb transformed Ahk-Ton to the king ahk-ton 'metamorph', a creature with complete control over the elements in his body, king ahk-ton.

Ahk-Ton was a tyrant who ruled Kahndaq until he was slain by Teth-Adam. He also ordered the creation of the Crown of Sabbac. Around BC, when Kahndaq became Earth's first self-governing civilization, Ahk-Ton rose to power, using his army to take over the country and rule the Kanhdaqi people through oppression. Ahk-Ton sought the power of dark magic , and planned to forge the Crown of Sabbac in order to gain the supernatural power of six demons. In order to forge the crown, he needed Eternium , so he enslaved his people and forced them to mine the mineral. One of his enslaved subjects, Hurut , rebelled against him and he quickly ordered his execution, which failed when Hurut became the champion of the Council of Wizards. However, after Hurut's many victories, Ahk-Ton lured him into a trap where he would save his father 's life before being killed by Ahk-Ton's assassins. Shortly after the Crown of Sabbac was successfully forged, it was to be given to Ahk-Ton in his palace. However, Black Adam interfered with the delivery and confronted Ahk-Ton. Ahk-Ton then begged for his life before Black Adam snapped his neck and destroyed the entire palace from within. Ahk-Ton was a power-hungry, sadistic, and oppressive tyrant who took what he wanted and forced others to get it for him. Though he was already in a high position of political power, he desired even greater power, which he sought to obtain from demons, instead of gods, which could imply he was a heretic.

Under the rule of Pharaoh Ramses II on some accounts, it was under Ramses VIII of the XX Dynasty , Ahk-Ton became a priest, devoted to the God of the Sun Ra , but his true nature was very different than the enlightened and peaceful pious man he was in public: he was an ambitious usurper wannabe, who aimed at seizing the throne for himself. It was all wishful thinking and pointless plotting, until one of his men, an alchemist, brought to him a stone he had found, and that he claimed came directly from the gods. Ahk-Ton saw potential in the meteor rock, and instructed the alchemist on how to work on it: together they created the headpiece for a scepter from the fragment, and named it the Orb of Ra. The alchemist left, sure that the good priest would have made something great to help the people from his work… but Ahk-Ton instead weaponized it. Using the ancient magic he knew as the high priest of Ra, he sent the Orb to the future, sure that it would have returned to him as a powerful tool to use against the Pharaoh. The creature possessed an incredible power, and Ahk-Ton used him to fight against Ramses… but also other visitors had come with Metamorpho, some of his friends from the future: Batman , Black Lightning , Geo-Force and Katana , the Outsiders.

Ishmael Gregor was a militant Intergang leader and the last descendant of the former Kahndaqi tyrant Ahk-Ton. Working for the organization, Gregor initiated plans to get the Crown of Sabbac created by Ahk-Ton, tricking Adrianna Tomaz into forging a false alliance, with the goal of getting it and ruling Kahndaq. After Teth-Adam 's release, Gregor faked his death and began to persecute Tomaz's family, kidnapping her son Amon Tomaz and taking him hostage. Gregor was eventually found by Adam and the Justice Society , trading with them to obtain the Crown, but ultimately being killed by Adam when Gregor betrayed them, traveling to the Rock of Finality according to his plan, where he revived as the demon Sabbac , taking on the Justice Society and murdering Doctor Fate along the way. Sabbac proclaimed himself the king of Kahndaq until Adam and Hawkman joined forces to kill him, where Gregor was split in half. Ishmael Gregor was born in Kahndaq. Throughout his life, he learned through his family and ancestral history that he was a descendant of Ahk-Ton , a tyrant who enslaved and ruled Kahndaq in ancient times to forge the Crown of Sabbac until he was killed by Teth-Adam. Seeking to retrieve the crown and claim his ancestral birthright, Gregor joined an international criminal organization known as Intergang , acting as a double agent by joining former university professor turned resistance fighter Adrianna Tomaz and her family in their quest to find the crown, keeping his true intentions hidden from them. Uniting with Adrianna Tomaz's team, also made up of Karim and Samir , they all set out in search of the Crown of Sabbac in an ancient cave in the desert, being transported by Karim. As they left Shiruta , Gregor and the team were questioned by the Intergang authorities, Gregor tried to use his pistol to kill them, but Adrianna's son, Amon Tomaz , distracted them, allowing them to pass after the wait.

Starring Dwayne Johnson, who has been attached to the title role since the early s, Black Adam promises to take the DC Extended Universe to the next level. Set in the fictional country of Kahndaq, the superhero film introduces plenty of new characters and brings back a few familiar faces. Black Adam follows the titular character, an antihero in the world of DC Comics, as he fights for the people of Kahndaq and often the Justice Society of America against the villain Sabbac. The film assembles quite the cast as it brings together many characters from the comics, many of whom are making their live-action debut in Black Adam.
