Great for kneading even the toughest dough, mixing dense ingredients or bigger batches. The lever smoothly raises the mixing bowl into position, and the bowl attaches at 3 lock points for maximum stability.
This would not be my first Kitchen Aid mixer. About 15 years ago I took some classes on cake decorating and for a few years ran a cake business from my home. At that time I was looking for a stand mixer that could handle large batches of butter cream frosting. Finally, I looked at the KitchenAid mixer; this was back when Hobart made them. It was exactly what I was looking for. The problem is it was almost three times the cost of the mixers I had been using.

We've long maintained the best KitchenAid stand mixer is a bowl-lift model without a "foot," as Stella asserts here. With most KitchenAids, the bottom of the bowl has ridges or a foot, if you will that lock into the base. Off the mixer, this makes it tougher to keep the bowl steady, unusable in water baths like for melting chocolate , and more. But, as Stella also noted, this is a personal preference. There are plenty of bakers who like their KitchenAid Artisans and Classics—who find these models perfectly suitable for baking cakes, cookies, and breads. This is why we wanted to test and compare almost all of the KitchenAid stand mixers, so you could decide which is best for your kitchen.

The only problem with my old one was it was hard to twist the bowl off the machine after mixing because it twisted it in too tight. I use the mixer for everything and love it. I was really frustrated in talking to the customer service rep. On with the search. Have made around one pound loaves of bread 4 at a time, grams wet weight at speed 1 to 2 with no problems. Stand Mixer has 10 Speeds for Nearly any Task or Recipe From mixing ingredients together on slow stir speed, to whipping cream at speed 8, you will get thorough ingredient incorporation every time. Thanks for all your comments I am going to have to do some serious research on the other machines you have mentioned. The second thing I noticed was the amount of noise it made. It is heavy, not cast iron stove heavy, but heavy as in it feels like good quality. Buy it and be happy! Growing up my mum had the KA Proline. It is the most reliable appliance I have ever owned. Another nice feature is that the machine slowly starts and then gradually over a few seconds increases to your chosen speed.

They sent me another one. I think the Kitchenaid Pro Stand Mixer will be for me. I can say that I way underestimated the mixing capability of the It is simply a little sliding lever on the slide of the machine. So I am not sure if a tilt head model is better than a non tilt head. While it still runs, it needs a good service to grease it and keep it running, I wanted a new KA Pro thinking that I could do a little more with it. I knew I was going to want to make bread with this thing and I wanted to make sure that the dough hook would knead the dough and not simply provide the dough with an amusement park type ride. Got it for Christmas last year. I doubt I will make anything larger. I have tried the ice cream attachment and it works well. I have 6 kids and make large batches of everything I do. We have the noodle maker attachement that we do like but the first time we used it the gears on the mixer broke the teeth off of them.
