Ksp delta v
Can someone please explain to me what Delta V is? Everyone talks about it, but I have no clue what it is, it's so frustrating.

It is a scalar that has the units of speed. As used in this context, it is not the same as the physical change in velocity of said spacecraft. A simple example might be the case of a conventional rocket-propelled spacecraft, which achieves thrust by burning fuel. Such a spacecraft's delta- v , then, would be the change in velocity that spacecraft can achieve by burning its entire fuel load. Delta- v is produced by reaction engines , such as rocket engines , and is proportional to the thrust per unit mass and the burn time. It is used to determine the mass of propellant required for the given maneuver through the Tsiolkovsky rocket equation. For interplanetary missions, delta- v is often plotted on a porkchop plot , which displays the required mission delta- v as a function of launch date. For rockets, "absence of external forces" is taken to mean the absence of gravity and atmospheric drag, as well as the absence of aerostatic back pressure on the nozzle, and hence the vacuum I sp is used for calculating the vehicle's delta- v capacity via the rocket equation. In addition, the costs for atmospheric losses and gravity drag are added into the delta- v budget when dealing with launches from a planetary surface. Orbit maneuvers are made by firing a thruster to produce a reaction force acting on the spacecraft. The size of this force will be. During the burn the mass of the spacecraft will decrease due to use of fuel, the time derivative of the mass being.
That speed is delta v. Looks like I'm a little late to the party today, ksp delta v, but all of the above users have posted some very good answers, so there isn't much I can add.

Hey everyone, I have a quick question regarding Delta V. A lot of times my rockets wont have enough to make a full burn, and I'll have to use the next stage to complete it, which puts my whole mission out of whack. Any tips for getting more Delta V? For transfer stages, I reccomend using engines with high vacuum ISP.

When you fire your engines and let all of the propellant to be spent, your ship will be moving away from the object at a certain speed. When rocket thrust is applied in short bursts the other sources of acceleration may be negligible, and the magnitude of the velocity change of one burst may be simply approximated by the delta- v. Ok ok, I have the first question. You'll get emailed updates for this mod. So the way you measure going from one place to another in space is simple: measuring the effort of changing your velocity to cross paths with your target, plus the effort of then changing your velocity to then match that of the target. Everyone talks about it, but I have no clue what it is, it's so frustrating.
So I would like to know how to count the Delta-V in the game, I know that you can use mods like MechJeb to do this but I just think it would be cool if I could do it myself. So if somebody would be nice enough to help me to understand how to do it, and start explaining from the beginning.
Over a century ago, a smart man by the name of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky came up with a formula by which you can calculate the amount of change in velocity using a measure of engine efficiency known as exhaust velocity , as well as the ratio of the rocket's full mass to final, dry mass. I will keep it up-to-date to stay on CKAN. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one. I'm assuming that's a bug to be fixed at a later date, but for now I'm using the delta v shown on the launch pad because that's what counts down when I'm actually flying. Max View Profile View Posts.
You have hit the mark. In it something is also idea good, agree with you.
You have thought up such matchless phrase?
In it something is. I thank you for the help in this question, I can too I can than to help that?
