We have more newsletters. So much so, in fact, that the owners have moved on to open other branches, including a much bigger establishment in Cheetham Hill. The menu is aimed squarely at British Asians who appreciate real Pakistani food and who know their Lahori style from their Karachi. The lamb chops are simply magnificent; smoky from the grill but juicy and utterly irresistible. Succulent lamb pieces sit in a rich sauce which is flavoured very noticeably with cinnamon as well as other whole spices such as cardamom and cloves. With it comes a plate of optional toppings including crispy fried onion, coriander and thinly sliced ginger. Slabs of delicious freshwater fish sit in the kitchen in a marinade waiting for their moment. There is also quail batera for the grill and an array of karahi or dry-fried dishes. Like many ex-pats and their subsequent generations the designers of this restaurant have idealised and romanticised their homeland. The restaurant has been set out in the style of a Pakistani village with an almost theatrical backdrop at the rear. Fittingly, a terrific photographic portrait of the great Pakistani singer Sir Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan overlooks the kitchen. At the entrance, bizarrely, is an old tractor and wishing-well which introduce the rural idyll theme.

It was only after speaking to my wife did I realise that it was a little lacking in the spice department this time round for some reason. Diners must be aware however that this is not a place to stagger in after five pints of Stella. Not sure of all the 1 stars. We got our table straight away as it was around pm. Creep who turned on his girlfriends called police when he knew he'd been found out. I was there yesterday 6th April, I literally saw people from different cultures enjoying food there!!!!
