I have designed this large shed with a lean to roof so you can have a large building for storing your tools, outdoor furniture and other items.

What do you do when you can't fit all of your tools in one shed? Well, you build another and attach it to the existing one or a house! Here, I show you how to build a lean to shed from scratch along with free plans and a full YouTube video to follow along with. This step by step diy project is about how to build a lean to carport. Building a simple carport is a straight forward project, if you plan everything from the very beginning and use the right carpentry techniques. Moreover, you only need basic tools, to get the job done. Before starting the actual construction of the lean to carport, you need to study the local building codes thoroughly. The legal requirements vary extensively according to the area where you live, so you should read them a few times. In most of the cases, the construction require a building permit, so you need to be aware of the required depth of the footings, or the materials you are allowed to use. Align the wooden components at both ends, before driving in the screws. Drill pilot holes trough the components to prevent the wood from splitting. Check the corners for squareness, every time you install a component. Check if the posts are plumb and if the support beams are horizontal, before locking them into place with screws or bolts.

As you can notice, the slope of the roof is steep enough to drain the water efficiently.

The whole structure of the pavilion is interesting, so if you want an unique construction in your garden, these are the plans to go to. You will spend hours just watching the intricate structure of the roof unveiling its beauty upon the garden. We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pressure-treated lumber, cedar or redwood. If you use regular pine, I recommend you to apply the appropriate products to enhance its durability. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Drill pilot holes trough the components before inserting the wood screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. Please read the Local Building Codes so you determine the right depth of the footings and the pitch for the roof.

One month. Diane Collins - I want to print the 16 X 24 lean to shed plans. Don't add all the screws immediately. Ovidiu - Not yet. This is particularly useful during a wood shortage here in the UK. With this only being a small lean to shed, while getting it level, we just sat the base ontop of treated pieces of timber and gravel for drainage. We placed the roof on top and screwed it onto the existing shed. Once you've cladded and nailed on your notched door trim , it's time to add your hinges, pad bolt, etc. Moreover, you can save some space, as you can build it next to the property line or to an already existing building.
