Legion is about to reach the end, and it's sure to bring an eclectic soundtrack along for the ride. The FX series revolving around the exploits of David Haller - the mentally unstable son of Professor X - will finish its story in the current third season, as David is forced to take on his former friends in Division 3 after he was revealed to be an abusive predator in the show's shocking season 2 finale. While the story has always been important in Legion , the show is usually more lauded for its aesthetics than its plot. Set in an alternate timeline of the X-Men film series , it was produced by FX Productions in association with Marvel Television , and ran for three seasons from to , with Hawley serving as showrunner. Dan Stevens starred as David Haller, a " mutant " diagnosed with schizophrenia at a young age. The series follows Haller as he tries to control his mutant powers and the sinister forces trying to control them while evading a government agency. For the second season , Jemaine Clement and Hamish Linklater were promoted to main cast after having recurring roles and Navid Negahban joined the cast. Lauren Tsai joined for the third season. FX and Marvel Television announced a new collaboration to create a television series based on the Marvel Comics character Legion in October , with Hawley signed on to write and direct the pilot.
