I was thinking that you should reverse the enabled or disable to the opposite of what it is now. You need to try something. A setting or driver is stopping it going into a very low power state.

When I was using Windows 10, the battery took much longer to discharge. It seems that something is draining the battery more quickly now that I am using Windows I have tried a number of things to reduce battery drain, including changes to my display settings. I have had a Lenovo S Thinkpad for a few months and was puzzled by the battery draining when it was left shut down completely for a few days. The expectation was that even after a week there should be no appreciable battery drain. After rebooting it now seems that wol for the ethernet NIC is indeed disabled now so there should not be any power going to the NIC after shutdown. Does anyone else have a similar problem with the same laptop or a different one, and if so what is the best solution? With the workaround I have above I will now have to leave the machine shut down for a few days and see if the battery drain issue is now fixed or not. Either way I cannot imagine why it would be necessary to have WOL set to enabled for a laptop. So I would have to guess that this is probably a firmware bug.

February 14, Ask a new question. I have a new laptop with Windows 11, fully updated. It came preinstalled with it. It has been in use for over a month, and I noticed that when I switch it off the battery keeps being consumed. At first I tried tweaking the Power options in the Control Panel, that includes disabling the fast startup. Nothing worked. I have also tried other things like uninstalling battery-related drivers, the outcome is still the same. I have read many solutions in this forum and other sites too, but those suggestions were not successfull. Was this reply helpful?

Also check BIOS to make sure that network boot is disabled, had this kill the batteries on a few old enterprise laptops. I guess that anybody with the corresponding issue on different hardware should contact Lenovo tech support with their own details and ask them to pass it on to Lenovo engineers for a fix. But I think it is the processor since the processor is a P series that means it is more for power were the U series intel chips are more power efficient.
