A lot of thought has gone into this. I totally agree about the lines with "another hill ahead". I wonder if it's also that we can't just focus on where we are now and the valley immediately in front of us; if we keep our sights on the next hill, that hope makes it a bit easier to get through the hard times. Great interpretation! I was also stuck thinking about what "There's another hill ahead" meant, and how it made sense in the context of the song. My interpretation is that the "hill" is referring to another journey another hill you can climb and another opportunity to experience the highs of life when you reach the summit. Life has ups and downs, but as long as we keep moving forward everything will workout for the best. Thanks for writing this. Main Summary Let Your Heart Hold Fast is a song about someone who feels lost and trapped in his world and in himself and eventually survives. The song tells us to 'hold fast' and 'never fear' and that all will soon be OK. I understood the first two lines because they are reoccurring and they are the main message of the song - hold on and stay put because everything bad will eventually pass; however I was puzzled by 'there's another hill ahead'. I thought it may mean that yet another bad thing will come soon, but that did not make sense in terms of the message of the song.
All my desperate calls, Echo off the walls, Back and forth then back again. The syllables in "bitter" are the two lowest notes, which fades a bit.
Lyrics submitted by Exonym. I think this song is about a guy who loves a girl. I think he finally confessed his love for her, but it wasn't something he was used to doing. As if this girl was his first love. And when he finally confessed he felt exposed. I think he was used to flirting around and not taking love very seriously until he met her. I think he used to walking alone and never having a long term lover.

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. Note that "deep" and "steep" imageries are alluding that this is the lowest point of his life, which is later contrasted with "hills. Life has ups and downs, but as long as we keep moving forward everything will workout for the best. In the oceans deep; In the canyons steep Walls of granite here I stand All my desperate calls Echo off the walls Back and forth; then back again To believe I walk alone Is a lie that I've been told So let your heart hold fast For this soon shall pass Like the high tide takes the sand Oh, oh, oh, oh! He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. My Interpretation I think this song is about a guy who loves a girl. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. The chorus and specific lines such as 'Never fear! Here was a laugh-track sitcom that heavily relied on music to tell its story. On the other end, we had Ted, who was basking in happiness after finally getting together with Robin - two very modern styles of romance wrapped up in one. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released.

Before the concluding minutes, Ted envisioned himself tearing into Stella for betraying him, only to see her with her family and realizing they were always meant to be together. It was used to stir up the wonder in fans over whose wedding it was supposed to be in the flash-forward, where we saw a nervous Ted. On the other end, we had Ted, who was basking in happiness after finally getting together with Robin - two very modern styles of romance wrapped up in one. This takes nothing away from "Downtown Train," though, the song that made us believe in happy endings for those few minutes. The speaker is crying at the end of all the hardships he had to face. I think he was used to flirting around and not taking love very seriously until he met her. Note that he chose "hill" over any other images of height, perhaps to imply that unfortunately, it will eventually come down again. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. Hard Times by John Donne. What made this moment so beautiful was the song that seamlessly went with all the times the couple had during their marriage and completed the effect by accompanying us when we saw Ted and The Mother meet for the first time in The song tells us to 'hold fast' and 'never fear' and that all will soon be OK. Every inch revealed as my heart is pierced Oh my soul is now exposed! They were usually right, as this upbeat track explodes whenever things are about to go down. This tells us that it's not the first time that this guy has confessed his feelings to this girl as his "calls" are described to have "echo ed off the walls", but since these are "echoes" then he may not have obviously said it whereas he hinted it multiple times but the girl was unaware of how he feels for her.
