Geoff Keighley's annual Game Awards ceremony is notorious for featuring a heavy serving of reveal trailers for new games along with its celebration of the nominees and awards winners. This year, the studio has released two titles. The choice-driven adventure game Harmony: The Fall of Reverie was released over the summer to solid reviews, while its climbing-focused adventure game Jusant launched directly onto Xbox Game Pass this fall. Don't Nod was planning on releasing a third title in November, the much more ambitious-looking Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden , before it was pushed to February 13, Lost Records: Bloom and Rage is the first game in development at Don't Nod's new Montreal branch that opened in , and its art style is strikingly similar to that of its beloved Life is Strange franchise. The game is set in the mids and is centered around a group of four high school friends named Autumn, Nora, Swann, and Kat. It's unclear exactly what the gameplay will entail, however, judging by the fact that the art style is nearly identical to Life is Strange , Lost Records seems most likely to be a similar style of narrative adventure.

Life Is Strange was conceived around the rewind mechanic, a concept which had already been briefly explored in Remember Me. Life Is Strange ' s protagonist Max Caulfield was created with the ability to rewind time to supplement this mechanism. Development began in April with a team of 15 people, with further people added as the collaboration with Square Enix began. Development began under the working title What If , before being retitled to avoid confusion with the film of the same name.

The plot focuses on Max Caulfield , an year-old photography student who discovers that she has the ability to rewind time at any moment, leading her every choice to enact the butterfly effect. The player's actions adjust the narrative as it unfolds, and reshape it once allowed to travel back in time. Fetch quests and making environmental changes represent the forms of puzzle solving in addition to using branching choices for conversation. Development of the game began in April It was formed with an episodic format in mind, for reasons both financial and creative.
Founded in June , it started development on Remember Me Because of its poor return on investment, Don't Nod entered "judicial reorganisation" in With the help of French agency funding, it developed Life Is Strange episodically in , whose successful release raised Don't Nod's industry status. It began third-party publishing with Gerda: A Flame in Winter in The developer's debut title was Remember Me , [13] which would at first be a PlayStation 3 -exclusive role-playing game , but was dropped by publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment in on account of cuts in funding. It was presented at Gamescom the same year to attract another publishing deal; the following year, Capcom Europe acquired the rights and reimagined it as an action-adventure game , [8] [14] [15] released in June Dontnod announced in July that it had entered into a partnership with Hesaw, a Parisian game studio in which Guilbert also held a management role, that saw the latter renamed Dontnod Eleven but remained an independent entity. In , Guilbert said the company would pursue a co-production strategy with future publishers, as was done for Vampyr , limiting their part to forty per cent. The investment will allow Dontnod to continue self-publishing their titles and expand into China and the mobile game sector.

The cinematic trailer confirmed that Don't Nod is sticking to its familiar, colorful art style, and the game is confirmed to be a "story-driven journey through time". We also received the first look at the game's cast of characters, Swann, Nora, Autumn, and Kat, four teenagers who appear to be in a punk band but get swept up into a mysterious adventure.
