Link [c] is a character and the protagonist of Nintendo 's video game franchise The Legend of Zelda. He was created by Japanese video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. Link was introduced as the hero of the original The Legend of Zelda video game in and has appeared in a total of 20 entries in the series, as well as a number of spin-offs. Common elements in the series include Link travelling through Hyrule whilst exploring dungeons, battling creatures, and solving puzzles until he eventually defeats the series' primary antagonist, Ganon , and saves Princess Zelda. Throughout the series, Link has made multiple appearances in a variety of incarnations, but has been traditionally depicted in his signature green cap and tunic wielding a sword and shield. He has appeared as both a child and young adult of the elf -like Hylian race.

The New Hero of Hyrule has a fairly simple adventure for Link's standards, although his ability to blend into walls is a pretty cool addition to Link's move set. He does manage to take down both Ganon and Yuga, as well as saving both Hyrule and Lorule, but the character itself just isn't very powerful compared to others. He does reappear in Tri-Force Heroes, defeating the evil witch Maud. This adventure is on a much smaller scale, though, with the greatest evil Maud commits being the fact she places a curse on the Princess of Hyptopia in which she must always wear an ugly jumpsuit. The Hero of the Minish is tasked with defeating Vaati in an adventure that takes place long before Four Swords.

He has also permanently defeated Ganondorfat least until his reincarnation showed up later in the timeline. Link must explore four main map pieces, return the power of the spirit tracks using the Spirit Flute, and navigate the Spirit Tower, the main labyrinth hub, aided by the spirit of Zelda.
