I hope you enjoy reading this publication as I am only too well aware of the amount of hours that have gone into its production. I am very pleased to be the promoter of the Lismore circuit not only because of its wonderful history, but also the fact that the Lismore Showground is now one of the longest running speedway tracks in Australia. When I came to Lismore in I already knew I was walking into one of the most historic venues in the country. But since I have been here, I have learnt so much — and heard so many wonderful stories — that provide incredible and very significant history that few tracks can boast. When it comes to a Showground setting for racing, Lismore Speedway also is a member of that select club — and stands even taller, because the inner city capital city Showground tracks no longer operate, victims of an ever changing environment and community standards. But all have long since disappeared and these venues in some cases have a history that traces back to almost the very beginning of dirt track oval track racing as we know it today. There is something very special about a Showground speedway track. Most of these Showground tracks throughout Australia wreak of history and Lismore is no exception. With time comes history, heritage brings with it a badge of honour. That best describes Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway and the mantle it possesses in the sport today: history, heritage, honour.

Current day promoters Mick and Kim Sauer have carried on that tradition showcasing the very popular tournament. Not only the outcome of the Mr Modified Series is set to be written into history this weekend, but this latest chapter will certainly attain a level with some of the great events of the past. Robinson clinched the series for the season with a third placing in the decider and he will again need a top three placing to successfully defend the crown. The entries have come from far and wide typifying the popularity of this category with a number of clubs representing tracks. The extensive club representation also shows the well established foot print on the NSW racing scene made by this category, which largely serves as a very worthy feeder division for drivers looking to progress further in the sport.

A new era commences at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway for the season under the promotion of husband and wife team Mick and Kim Sauer. They are excited to be investing into the future of speedway at the historic showground venue and also honouring past traditions following the July 1 takeover.
