EdShed, or Education Shed Ltd, as our accountant calls us, is the umbrella for several educational products and brands. We are a company run by teachers for teachers.

We have recently adopted whole class reading as the main way of teaching reading and have found the VIPERS approach by redgierob of Literacy Shed fame great for constructing questions, whilst ensuring all the reading domains are covered. The final inspiration for this topic came from MrBoothY6 during his workshop at the inspiring Reading Rocks conference in October last year. I used the VIPERS template to write comprehension questions for our whole class reading lessons and added pre-teach sessions. These ranged from researching precious stones to tasting Turkish Delight. These pre-reading sessions were greatly enjoyed by all of us and what was noticeable was that because the children were introduced to something e.
