Little lotus cafe
Little Lotus Cafe. My favourite hot cross buns in Hobart are from Jackman and McRoss - no mixed peel sadly why does everyone hate it?
This cafe is a little escape from the hustle and bustle of the city- the perfect place to come to refuel and relax. A big emphasis is placed on creating vegetarian and vegan meals. They source healthy and sustainable ingredients which they use to create delicious meals with love. We think this calming atmosphere is thanks to the yoga studio space upstairs and spiritual store, Padmalight, located next door, that give the space a lovely incense smell. You do feel as though you are about to begin a yoga class! As you walk through the busyness of Centerpoint, out the doors and along Victoria Street, you are welcomed by a sea of calm as you walk through the Little Lotus doors. There are also lots of options for gluten free as well.

Supporting small businesses for the win! It looks like we have a few pumpkins on the vine too. Who else has watched it?!

Little Lotus Cafe is a warm and friendly eatery located in the heart of Hobart. Offering a creative plant-based menu and sourcing organic and local produce where possible. The focus here is on local, organic and ethical food. Bonus, it is yummy and you leave feeling full, but not heavy! The team not only makes most things from scratch onsite, they also invest in some of the best ingredients. We asked the pair what their favourite dishes on the menu are. It is made with almond cheese too, so has a real nutty flavour. The vegan breakfast platter is a bestseller. It includes scrambled tofu, herb-crusted tomato, roasted king oyster mushrooms, enoki, house-made baked beans and sourdough bread.

We loved this and the recipe made enough for me to stock the freezer with, and leftovers with rice for both of us to take to our respective offices the following day. The garden has been full of delicious things - the aforementioned potatoes, zucchini and beetroot, and yesterday I picked nearly 1kg of cherry tomatoes which went into my vegan ragu. Shepard forever! My parents told me to go and pick some of their apples and tomatoes while they were away on the mainland, so I picked a bag of each. I will never compost parsnip peel again - it was amazing. These chocolates are unbelievable. It was divine. Supporting small businesses for the win! It also arrived within a week of ordering and I got a lovely personal email from the director of the company to thank me for my order. I went to see Tracy and Jen at Red Parka in town, who sell delightful, colourful, warm and ethically-made bamboo socks. Absolutely delicious!
Lotus Cafe.
I adore it. These chocolates are unbelievable. Want to know more? I also enjoyed a proper chai alongside. Shepards last well and are nearly always blemish-free. For the longest time I was very protective of that particular version, I thought nothing could touch it and I still think Christian Bale is a very charming Laurie and I was sceptical when a new adaptation came out in , even though it was written and directed by my best friend Greta Gerwig. But then I watched it. The fritters are made from sweet potato and corn and paired beautifully with the creamy homemade cashew cheese. Such a moreish dish. Got thoughts to share? We enjoyed thick slabs of it toasted with marmalade and cultured oat butter for breakfast, and with soup for dinner. The caramel was made from miso and dates, something we both had never eaten before and we would definitely eat it again!
