Carers of West Lothian is a well-established charity offering a range of services developed to meet the needs of unpaid carers and disabled people in West Lothian. It was started in by a small group of people, themselves carers, who recognised the need carers had for information and support. They were concerned about the lack of support in West Lothian and used their own experience to set up a service to support carers like themselves. Today, through our support, we aim to help every unpaid carer and disabled person in West Lothian to live their lives the way they choose. This course is for those who want a career as a senior care worker within a social care setting o r to progress to University for Social work or Community education. You will learn how to work effectively in various care settings with different service users; the values and principles of social care; and how to integrate these values with skills and knowledge. This course will also provide a registerable qualification with SSSC to gain employment in the social services. Please note if you are considering Social Work degree you may require to have National 5 Maths this is not available on the HNC and would need to be undertaken independently as an evening class.
