This hole is the opening of a tunnel that takes you to the entrance of Izalith. If you dont want to kill them yourself then you can run around the area and they will kill eachother. Luckily these Demons won't respawn when you use a bonfire, so your best bet is to lure them towards you one at a time back to the entrance of the area. If you climb back up the root near the narrow passage at the head of the room, the Bounding Demon will use its spin attack to no avail. Use this opportunity to damage it using strong ranged attacks. Don't be afraid to replenish your Estus and magic in between fights. It'll take a long time to clear out the room, but each Demon drops souls, making it a decent place to level up as well. The back half is far more divided than everything before Anor Londo, with all four Lord Souls attached to some of the weakest areas in the Soulsborne franchise. The first Dark Souls is excellent, but Lost Izalith is just not representative of the game at its best. Solaire can be summoned for the battle but has a bad habit of drowning himself in lava and the Centipede Demon is fairly weak to Magic damage. Hook right to lure the Centipede Demon to a patch of land where it can be easily dodged and pick up the Orange Charred Ring once dropped. When equipped, the Orange Charred Ring significantly reduces the amount of damage players take while in lava. That said, lava still does armor damage so make sure not to idle in manga for too long. Lost Izalith is absolutely flooded with lava and there are very few areas of safe ground to step on for the first half.
