A farming family in Central Queensland have rebuilt and restored a community hub at Lotus Creek, which was wiped out by Cyclone Debbie in The old service station had been closed for almost five years, leaving the local community and travelers passing through without fuel and important services on the Marlborough and Sarina Rd. Lotus Creek is km north west of Rockhampton and km south west of Mackay. Looking to fill the gap, the closure of the old service station dealt the local community, third generation graziers David and Lynda Kemp and their family at Lotus Park, purchased the Lotus Creek Tourist Park in early The Kemps have since transformed the old service station, trucking in two old buildings to form, The Homestead at Lotus Creek. Emma Kotrba, daughter of David and Lynda Kemp, said the family are excited to bring some life back to the stretch of road.

Lotus Creek is km north west of Rockhampton. There are 20 powered and 20 unpowered sites available for caravans, campers and motorhomes. On site accommodation is also available and may include cabins and on site caravans. Nestled in the southern hinterland of the Mackay region, sits a historic homestead offering travellers and day-trippers an oasis to refuel and refresh. The Homestead at Lotus Creek is becoming a favourite place to take a drive, see wildlife as you meander through the bush and then enjoy country hospitality and hearty tucker. Their family-operated business is positioned just a few kms down the road from The Homestead, and their ties to Lotus Creek go way back to the 70's when David can remember buying a paper bag full of lollies for just a few cents, or selling homegrown eggs for a bit of pocket money.
A fantastic place to stay. We had a very large family gathering. We used powdered sites, un-powered sites, on-site vans and on-site cabins. The setting and amenities are excellent. The toilet block has individual ensuite showers and toilets which is very nice.

We booked for a second visit in February in our Caravan with our Kayaks. Beautiful trees lots of shade good swimming spot. Powered sites , excellent facilities. Great cafe and restaurant. Friendly staff,definitely, worth a visit. A little oasis off the beaten track.
