Whether it was as a scholar, a friend, a theorist, a conversation partner, a partner in crime, he taught the fortunate ones who knew him how to think, how to live, how to love—for these were quite often the same to him. We were there to receive his teachings. But many have not, and it will now be impossible to experience it in his direct presence—which in itself was quite something, in its presence and elusiveness.
