Love judo

It's my second appearance at a judo event as Secretary General. It's so different compared to what I used to do before, but I love my new job. It's a little strange, because I know every bit of the organisation. Sometimes, I'd love to say something but I stay now in my new role. Actually, to be honest, I am really happy with what I see. Claudiu Chimoiu, who replaced me as Events Director, is doing a fantastic job and with all the team working with him, the World Judo Tour is in really good hands. I don't have to say anything because everything runs smoothly. Talking about my new position within the organisation, it is so interesting. I knew little about the job. I mean I knew the sectors of the general secretariat that, as Events Director, I was in contact with. I now discover a totally new world. It's thrilling. After ten years in charge of the events, I knew every bit of event management. Now, I entered a new sphere. I have already started to learn a lot and I can tell you that I love it.

A judo tale from Bevvie. Everybody in the team was as much excited as usual before the upcoming round of regional club championship. Or even more, since that night we were about to clash with our arch rivals, Rotterdam Budo Sport. On the top of everything the event was to be as irregular as one can imagine, since the Dutch Federation decided to introduce mixed team competition, first time in history of judo for a trial round. Which meant both teams had nominated a girl and a guy in every weight group, then we girls were expected to try and make our stand against the much bigger guys, for instance in my half-middleweight a 63 kg girl versus a 81 kg guy. Although at team level the chances remained balanced, the one invented this type of competition must have been simply an idiot or some sort of fetishist. Or plainly anti-feminist with the intention of turning down the fancy trend of emerging female fighters. I had dressed into my white judogi quite early.
