Located in Yorkshire-Lincolnshire, England, Scarborough — South Bay is not a bad beach break that offers up some great, easygoing sections for longboarding or beginners. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to meters over a sand bottom. On rare days it can get hollow and speedy. Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard for the days when it gets a bit punchier. The best winds are from the West. Scarborough has two main beaches, North Bay and South Bay , both offering different atmospheres and experiences. Getting between the two beaches is easy — you can either take the walk down Marine Drive which offers fantastic views out to sea, or you can jump on the hop-on-hop-off bus service that will take you from one beach to another in less than 5 minutes. North Bay is most popular with surfers and those who like to be out in the water as the tide is generally much better for these kinds of activities.

Occasionally if the conditions are right Scarboroughs beaches are filled with surfers. Current swell conditions from local buoys are shown along with live wind speed and direction from nearby weather stations. The North sea is never that warm - even in the summer its not that warm. Granted the water looks Brown, but the quality of the breaks is just brilliant. Thursday 21 March Surf Forecast.
