Ashley seems to be the more popular choice for people to save on Virmire. Is that specifically because people want to bang her? I mean the developers turned her into a friggin Barbie doll in Mass Effect 3. Alliance Brass upgraded her breast size. Super uninteresting backstory as well. I save Kaiden every time of Virmire because he has actual utility in the game, esp in ME 3.
On the other side of the coin, Ashley is a combat specialist and the only squadmate in the first Mass Effect game that can use all four weapon types. If the squad has more attack power, players may want to save Kaidan to get his support abilities into play; squads with more support powers may want to have Ashley to mass effect kaidan or ashley more raw attack into battles.
One of the many incredible features of the Mass Effect games is the decisions the player must make that will have a lasting impact on not only the remainder of the game, but potentially the rest of the franchise as well. It's this kind of storytelling that has made the franchise have massive replay value. One of the most iconic of these important, game-changing decisions takes place in Mass Effect , the first game of the franchise, where the player must choose to save either Kaidan Alenko or Ashley Williams. The other will be left to die on the planet Virmire. For new gamers playing the game for the first time, here are some things to consider before choosing who to save. All squad members in the Mass Effect franchise come with their own set of skills that the player can upgrade and customize as needed.
Saving Ashley Williams or Kaiden Alenko is one of the Mass Effect trilogy's earliest and toughest major decisions, and one many players have been faced with again with the launch of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. The squadmate who survives Mass Effect 1 goes on to make an appearance in Mass Effect 2 , and then return in a more prominent role in the third game. There's plenty of debate among fans as to which of Shepard's human squadmates is worth saving. Some compare Kaiden's utility as a Sentinel to Ashley's as a Solider, with different implications depending on the class the player picked for Shepard. For many Mass Effect: Legendary Edition players, however, the most important part of any decision in the series is how it affects the story. Although the Virmire survivor fulfills a similar role in the narrative regardless of whether Shepard saved Ashley or Kaiden, their unique characterizations have a big impact on the tone rest of the trilogy. For fans struggling to make up their minds, here's how Mass Effect 1 's Virmire survivor shapes the rest of the games. Before Virmire there are a few different ways Ashley and Kaiden's stories can go. Shepard's gender will affect which one of them wandered towards the Beacon on Eden Prime, for example.

BioWare games seem to indicate that the studio enjoys putting players in the position to make tough choices. With the release of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition , players can once again relive the hardest choices BioWare can throw at them. One of the most memorable early decisions with long-lasting effects in Mass Effect is deciding who lives and who dies between Kaidan and Ashley. After arriving on Virmire and fighting through waves of Geth, Shepard and their crew will meet up with the Salarians. The leader of the Salarian group, Captain Kirrahe, requests help from Shepard's team, and both Kaidan and Ashley volunteer. While the decision of who goes with which team might seem like the life and death choice, it isn't. Both characters will survive until the end of the mission; however, in the final moments, both teams get overrun and Shepard has to make the very black and white choice of either saving Ashley or Kaidan. The game is very clear that saving both isn't an option. Whoever is saved can potentially stay in the series until the end of Mass Effect 3 as long as they continue surviving, so the choice is a big one.

There is about a week left to sign up for Era's first Pokemon Doubles tournament! Although he at times expresses his reluctance to use the full brunt of his biotic abilities on living targets, he claims to have changed his mind after the events of Eden Prime, which occur very early on in the game. Kaiden is somewhat redeemed for being literally a human plank of wood if you sacrifice him, rather than Ashley on Virmire. It's odd that I will never choose the whiny biotic over the space racist. And yet, if you make sure Kirrahe survives the assault on Saren's base, he ensures that Ashley's name will live on among the STG as someone willing to sacrifice everything to get the mission done. Oct 25, 6, And be sure to sign up for the first ever Pokemon tournament , featuring an analog pocket as the ultimate prize! Deciding whether to save Ashley or Kaidan on Virmire is one of the hardest decisions you have to make in the entire Mass Effect series. He's boring, but in a game filled with explosive personalities that's a feature rather than a bug. Open new ticket Watched. Unlike Kaiden, who has all the personality of a wet sponge. Certain gear types and upgrades can also be found and equipped to various squadmates as well. Compared to Ashley, Kaidan has far less flaws to overcome in Mass Effect 1. Kaidan is more chill and a good friend to Shepard. I save Kaiden every time of Virmire because he has actual utility in the game, esp in ME 3.
