The story surrounds their relationship and Tim's bonds with his family; it is all very pleasant but stretched to the breaking point with dull passages and a narrative focus on events of little consequence. Gibson is strong, and the coastal vistas are lovely; but the production's strengths are deflated by television-style flatness and an overripe score.

Storyline Edit. Michael Pate first read the book in and was immediately taken by it. There are those among us who are similarly mentally endowed, but this is the only good movie I've seen to present this innocent type of below intelligence character. She wonders if that will be enough. However, for those of us who are not stuck in the ways of the closed minded past, "TIM" is an example of a movie that is ahead of it's time. I love this Family friendly Australian movie, it's tender, kind, sweet, and full of hope and a true gem! You can return the item for any reason in new and unused condition: no shipping charges. As their relationship progresses, there is such genuine affection and caring shown by Mary for Tim. Although she is an accomplished and successful woman, she is as emotionally innocent as Mel Gibson's character. Nonetheless, I enjoy it for the uplifting moral which teaches us that love conquers all and is above the judgement of those outside of the two people involved.

I would rate this depth perception movie an 8 due to its' targeted depths it has, and the pleasantly lasting impression it made on me and not just Gibson's short-short blue jean cutoffs Bill Charlton Builder. But it also lead him to understand more of the complexity and sometimes ugliness of people. He is at his most beautiful in this film that comes on the heels of Mad Max and shows his range as a promising young actor. Definitely not a movie for rote-type thinkers.
