The family of a talented artist left fighting for life after she was allegedly stabbed by a classmate have broken their silence on the harrowing ordeal and fears she wouldn't survive. The year 12 student was transferred to Townsville Hospital km away in a critical condition where she spent a month in a coma and had half of her liver removed. Melody's parents were in Vietnam at the time and made the mercy dash home not knowing whether she would still be clinging to life by the time they reached her hospital bedside. Sharon Guest and Stuart Neal were told that if their daughter did pull through, she might never walk again after three spinal nerves were severed. The year 12 Peace Lutheran College student was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after she was allegedly stabbed multiple times at school. Doctors also warned the damage to Melody's liver was much worse than initially thought. When she finally regained consciousness, it would be another 15 days before she would talk or walk. Three months on, the brave teen affectionately known as 'Bi-Bi' has made remarkable progress in her recovery. Melody's walking is almost back to normal and has returned to school in the hope of finishing her year 12 studies this year. The gifted artist is also drawing again and regularly shares her cartoon designs on social media. Ms Guest recalled the moment she found out that her daughter was fighting for life as she opened up on Melody's incredible recovery.
