Can this be changed without taking the headlight out? View Public Profile. Find More Posts by maxknuckles. View iTrader Profile.

My driver's side headlight fails after a few minutes and I get the "adaptive headlight inoperative" message. I swapped the bulb with the passenger side and the problem stayed with the driver's side. I ordered a new Hella control module and the unit came with a document that says that before putting it into service "it is necessary to install software and afterwards carry out coding by an appropriate diagnostic tester".

My auto leveling headlights no longer rise to the occasion when switched on, aimed downward all the time. Looking at the 2 threads below, I figured out the problem could be either or both of the height sensors connected to the suspension at the front and rear of the car, the control module itself, or the headlights themselves. Didn't make sense the 2 light "motors" would go at the same time, so I did some rudimentary troubleshooting. Put the car up on the Quick Jack, disconnected the rear sensor, turned on the headlights, and moved it full travel slowly watching for headlight movement. Nothing happened, so I repeated that on the front sensor, again seeing no movement.
