The internalization of the gaze looking at myself is realized in embodying the eye of looking at the other. I encounter the watch, a visual experience that defines the relationship to the objects outside of the self, in the form of a mysterious coincidence. To me, work means finding what is hidden inside me through understanding and interpretation of all the objects and situations surrounding me. Kim sharply discerns the visual potential hidden in an everyday object. Though starting from a concrete image, she adopts to understand a thing as a situation, not as a material. As a result, the external reality of an object evaporates, and a new context, which resembles the external reality but is different from it, emerges. In other words, the door opens to a new understanding utterly free from the responsibility of an artist to imitate reality, though this understanding is still closely related to fact. The artist focuses on new inspiration rather than considering the pendulum. By doing so, she puts up a stop to the linguistic judgment of criticism that tends to be confined to the frame of concept.
