Scuba Gear is a fun mod that adds a full set of diving equipment that aids in better underwater performance. There are 4 pieces that can only be acquired by taking them from Drowned that spawn by Ocean Ruins. The pieces dropped by Drowned mobs will likely be very damaged but can be repaired with iron and an anvil. Bear in mind that the armor will take damage every 4 seconds while in use. They will also provide the same level of protection as wearing iron armor. Each piece has different abilities when worn. The helmet will allow anything wearing it to breathe underwater.

Better Diving is a mod that brings a complete overhaul to the way diving works in Minecraft and has been designed to give players a more improved experience. Better Diving manages to take a variety of clever gameplay elements from Subnautica and it then implements them into the Minecraft world in order to significantly enhance the generally lackluster diving system that the game has by default. First and foremost, the Better Diving mod makes an array of changes to the way movement works while underwater. The mod also adjusts the minimum and maximum swimming speeds to values that are significantly more suitable than they are in vanilla. Other than all this, the Better Diving mod features various helpful new items, a revamped system for the way oxygen works while underwater and it also alters how efficiently you can break blocks underwater. All the changes made by this mod come together in stellar fashion to make diving feel a lot better than it usually does. All said and done, Better Diving is an exceptional mod that overhauls the diving system of Minecraft and improves it by a tremendous amount in order to make the experience more enjoyable.

A maximum operating depth MOD is a depth limit based on the percentage of oxygen in a diver's breathing gas. A diver should calculate the MOD for his dive whenever he uses enriched air nitrox, trimix, or pure oxygen. Technical divers who engage in deep air diving must also calculate MODs. A scuba diver who breathes air and who remains within recreational dive limits need not calculate a MOD for his dive. In fact, on most recreational dives the maximum depth will be limited by factors such as the no-decompression limit, narcosis, and the experience level of the diver instead of the MOD. This table provides information about gas use in scuba diving.

Then adding the chestplate will allow the player to mine at a normal speed underwater, which will vastly increase the blocks obtained compared to not wearing it.
