Monthly weather
Aside from chilly conditions this weekend and early next week, there should be an extended period of mild weather. It will be changeable through the coming week with the most disturbed weather in the second half, and there will be some wintriness over high ground, mainly in northern areas. Through the first half of March more settled conditions should develop, especially during the second week, as high pressure makes more of an appearance. Mid-March onwards is very uncertain but there is a chance of some colder weather developing. With weak high pressure moving across, the weekend should have just a few showers dotted around, some wintry over higher ground as chillier air moves in. Overnight fog patches are possible, with temperatures dropping near or just below average. Sunday will become cloudier with winds picking up, especially in the southern halves of England and Wales, with some more persistent rain possible towards southern coasts. On Monday any rain over the south-east should clear out, to leave to leave a lot of dry weather and some sunshine. There will be the odd shower here and there, as high pressure temporarily returns. Another band of rain should move south-eastwards on Tuesday and followed by a drier Wednesday. However, the second half of the week will be unsettled, with more frequent periods of rain or showers, some heavy, and some strong winds. It will become milder overall but with a dip in temperatures later in the week and wintry showers are still going to be possible over hills. With one or two low pressure systems moving across from the Atlantic unsettled weather will continue into the following week, with bands of rain interspersed with brighter but showery conditions. Any wintry precipitation should become confined to northern high ground as temperatures lift again, rising at least a couple of degrees above the March average.
