For Evola, 'the center of all things was not man, but rather the Transcendent. The final section on the historical legacy of the Grail was extremely interesting, but sometimes felt steeped in ambiguity, though probably due to my inexperience of some factors—particularly Dante and the Ghibelline 'conspiracy' as a whole. I think a brief exploration of the long history of Arthurian reworkings, and comparing them to their time period and to past works would be beneficial; he does this only with Wagner and it is a rather snide jab on the second last page of the epilogue. I wouldn't say Julius Evola "solves" the Mystery of the Grail, rather he establishes the various common symbols and goes to different lengths to trace them back to older sources, proposing instances of perversion or confusion in their depiction within the contemporary society, or in the text itself. My husband bought this book for me but I honestly have found it so tedious.
