These procedurally generated systems are the seat of all planets and worlds in the game. Most of the planetary systems in No Man's Sky will never be visited. Please keep in mind, this isn't for naming planets or stars, just for a personal indexing system. If it gets some general acceptance, then maybe we can use it when posting our finds as a shorthand about our finds. There's already a system in place that works quite well. Normally, 'comp' is used to indicate that a system is an unresolved binary meaning that the composition of at least one of the stars is unknown , but I've decided to use it here to show binary by placing it between the star indicators. For example Polaris would show as F-comp-F or FcF , as both stars are Yellow-White stars, though one is a supergiant and the other is a main-sequence like our sun.

A system is one or more planets and possible moons in orbit of a star. Each system my have up to 6 planetary bodies. Groups of systems are known as regions , which in turn are grouped as galaxies. Each system can be one of four star colors: Yellow , Red , Green , or Blue. All star systems, even those with multiple stars or a black hole , will fall into only one of these four categories.
