This comprehensive care center features state-of-the-art exam rooms and offers primary and north shore physicians group care services, behavioral health, advanced imaging and laboratory services, infusion therapy and Mass General Brigham Urgent Care. Internal medicine primary care physicians are educated in general medical and health needs of adult patients. They provide physical examinations, routine health screenings and preventative care for adults. They receive significant education and experience in specialty areas like psychiatry, dermatology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, palliative medicine, sleep medicine, infectious diseases and other subspecialties. Family medicine physicians are specially trained to provide primary care for patients of all ages. They offer annual check-ups and age-appropriate screenings and vaccinations, as well as preventive medicine. Family medicine physicians may also have sub-specialty training in adolescent medicine, geriatric medicine and sports medicine. A family medicine physician will be able to establish a detailed understanding of a family's health history and the health dynamics between generations. Primary care for adults. Our North Shore internal medicine physicians have offices conveniently located throughout the North Shore. North Shore internal medicine physicians conduct physical examinations and offer routine health screenings. If a patient requires specialized treatment beyond the expertise of our North Shore internal medicine doctors, referrals can be made to other specialists in the Partners HealthCare network, including to specialists at North Shore Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital. In addition, all of our North Shore internal medicine group physicians use electronic medical records, which helps them deliver more accurate and effective care. As a patient you have access to Patient Gateway, a website for communicating with your internal medicine practice. Patient Gateway lets you make appointments, request referrals to other specialists, view test results, and communicate with your doctors using secure email. Our North Shore internal medicine offering includes innovative models of primary care. If you have a particular condition, you may choose to participate in shared medical appointments , where 6 to 10 patients diagnosed with the same condition meet with a physician at the same time. These minute appointments offer extensive education about the condition and provide helpful support from fellow patients. You may also elect to see one of our concierge physicians — doctors who limit the number of patients they accept in order to expand the time they spend with their patients.
