The long-awaited opening of Hatfield's Oak Hill Crematorium is set to take place later this month. A lawn cemetery has stood on the site since , but redevelopment has seen a new state-of-the-art crematorium, large chapel for services, and landscaped gardens built. The scheme comprises a new single storey Crematorium with integral Machinery Store to the south western corner of the existing Lawn Cemetery, operated by the Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council. This will be accompanied by new associated car park and supplementary roadside parking within the cemetery curtilage. Some road network alterations and extensive landscaping will form part of the scheme, including the addition of two surface water attenuation ponds.
