Def stat to be boosted. No Hold Item. Wellspring Mask. Hearthflame Mask.

It confounds its enemies with nimble movements and kicks. It battles by drawing out the type-based energy contained within its masks. The star of the Teal Mask DLC, Ogerpon has taken the world by storm with its adorable visage and potent power enabling a variety of roles. Base Speed is another boon, outspeeding a large host of threats and enabling Ogerpon to make the most of its wide moveset by getting the jump on its competition. And with decent all around bulk, Ogerpon can not only pursue more defensive roles thanks to access to recovery in Horn Leech and Leech Side, but remain a sticky threat when playing on offensive as well. However, while the Teal Mask Ogerpon may have the most powerful boosting Abilities of all its masks, and the freedom of its item slot, it is also the most constrained form when it comes to coverage. Ogerpon has garnered a lot of attention for good reason, but time will tell whether it can emerge from the shadows of its history.

For instance, if you use Ogerpon in the first fight with your bitter rival Kieran in the Indigo Disk DLC, the Pokemon that he despises you for catching, he'll get angry and question you about why you're so dedicated to tormenting him. That's just one example, and there are plenty more being discovered at a fairly regular pace. First shared by Serebii owner Joe Merrick on Twitter, if you send out Ogerpon in the battle against epilogue DLC Pokemon Pecharunt, you'll get to see a special scene that features the two slinging what must be some choice words at each other. If you were paying attention to your Pokemon lore, you'll know perfectly well why Ogerpon is extremely ticked off upon seeing Pecharunt. If you haven't quite finished the DLC epilogue, and you're dodging spoilers, you'll want to duck out here. All three were pretty crummy Pokemon to begin with, but were made strong due to the Toxic Chains they held, later confirmed to be made by Pecharunt, the leader of the group. Having been left on its own for quite some time and essentially shunned by humans due to the death of its trainer, you can see why Ogerpon has some beef with Pecharunt, and why it's very happy expressing its anger in battle. In fact, Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti also have special interactions with Pecharunt, though they are a lot less dramatic and heated. It's a neat little story interaction that adds a bit of spice to the battle, and one that's easily missable considering Ogerpon is a Grass-Type regardless of the mask it wears. Offensively, Cornerstone Ogerpon is terrifying, ogerpon serebii. While Ogerpon may be frail compared to other Follow Me users, not being completely passive unlike redirection staples Amoongus and Indeedee let it stand out. But first, you have to defeat all of the above. With Ogerpon being hailed now as a hero gre , you need to escort it back to the Dreaded Den. Once you get there, however, it becomes apparent Ogerpon might want to go and travel with you. Unfortunately, Kieran wants to fight you for the right to take Ogerpon adventuring with them. Kieran has shifted a member of his old team out in exchange for a couple of new ones.

Ogerpon is a New Pokemon in Violet and Scarlet. Ogerpon is a tragically misunderstood, reclusive Pokemon that has a "fearsome mask", the titualr Teal Mask, and has three other masks that it wears. Its typing and Tera-typing change with each mask. In the land of Kitakami, the legend goes that the Loyal Three - Okidogi , Munkidori , and Fezandipiti - protected the locals from the terrifying masked ogre. The ogre still lives in the Oni Mountains. The story of The Teal Mask revolves around unveiling the truth behind this legend and figuring out what exactly Ogrepon and its true nature is. It gains additional typing with each mask, as well as changing its Tera-typing to the mask type. Its signature move, Ivy Cudgel, also changes type to its mask.

Encore remains one of the most disruptive move in doubles, due to the myriad of moves that do nothing when forced to repeat such as Protect, Tailwind, weather, Screens, and Trick Room, often forcing a switch and sapping momentum from the opposing team. Almost nothing likes having their item removed from Knock Off and Ogerpon can capitalize on any switch to setup Spikes or U-Turn out to an opposing check. Swords Dance Hearthflame Ogerpon acts as a late game sweeper or mid game wallbreaker, grabbing a Swords Dance to push its Attack to ludicrous levels. The user lashes out to vent its frustration toward the target. Ivy Cudgel is Hearthflame's only Fire STAB and thankfully an incredible one, offering great base power and high crit chance with no drawbacks. The target is taunted into a rage that allows it to use only attack moves for three turns. A retaliatory attack that counters any physical move, inflicting double the damage taken. Weakness laden Mono Grass typing makes it difficult to stay in with many of the threats Teal Mask could wall having coverage for it. The recoil from this move harshly lowers the user's Sp. Other defensive Flying types also excel as Ogerpon lacks any direct coverage for them. In this form, it draws on the power of fire. However, this does come at the cost of Defiant, so timing Terastalization is key.

Or use Horn Leech to shake off damage and stay healthy so you can repeatedly stymie Water and Ground types throughout the battle. The heavier the target, the greater the move's power. The user flings its held item at the target to attack. It struggles to get in safely and setup in the first place, and only becomes difficult once it does. Atk stat-whichever is higher for the user. U-Turn -pivoting option that hits opposing Rillaboom, Chien Pao, etc. This move's power is doubled if the user's previous move failed. Atk stats. The boost to Ivy Cudgel is the only saving grace, and admittedly is a good one with how rare Rock attacks are otherwise. It attacks unrelentingly with kicks and ivy strikes. This move's power is doubled if the user is poisoned, burned, or paralyzed. The user whips up a storm of leaves around the target. Embody Aspect also enables Ogerpon to act as a wrecking ball throughout the in game, able to come in and immediately deal damage without any extra setup needed. It can also combo well with Encore, likely forcing a contact attacker to take damage from the Spikey Shield. If you have no need of Wellspring's Water Immunity, or need it to stick around, Water Terastalization is a good pivot, wiping out all its weaknesses and adding the sorely missed Ice and Fire weaknesses that were cancelled out by its Grass sub-typing on top of an extra Special Defense boost further improving Wellsprings defensive capabilities.
