Updated: Sep 30, Hi again! If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my recent post of these two drawings:. To test these two marker brands, Copic and Ohuhu, I decided to draw the same image twice, and then color each piece using one of the brands. I thought this would make for a good direct comparison of the marker's colors and overall quality. I wanted to try and make both of these pieces as Identical as they possibly could be, so I tried lots of different color combos to find something I felt I could achieve with both brands. I did not want to have any bias towards Ohuhu for not having the correct color matches for my Copic piece, since I am a huge fan of Copics, so I made sure to choose colors both brands had and worked on the pieces simultaneously. Once I got Copics though, I was sold, and essentially just started filling my collection. Recently though, Ohuhu Markers, a cheaper alternative to Copics, started to grow in popularity.

Above you can see my color chart for the Ohuhu set of brush and chisel alcohol markers. Otherwise, the artwork would feel too pale for my liking. I will discuss the Copic's performance more down below, but for now lets take a look at the Ohuhu piece. The lighter the color the easier it is to layer and blend.

When it comes to art supplies, there are a lot of choices. One product that is often debated between artists is Ohuhu markers vs Copic marker classic markers. They have been marketed as being an affordable alternative to Copic markers, but how do they stack up in quality and performance?

Unsubscribe at any time. Ohuhu is also offering an even larger set of brush alcohol markers , which includes the set, the set of pastels, and a set of mid-tone colors. I thought this would make for a good direct comparison of the marker's colors and overall quality. Did this article pique your curiosity about Copics? After finishing a coloring session, I began attempting to put the markers back in order in the case but after several minutes it became too frustrating as the markers all shifted and flopped around, making it difficult to keep them in straight rows, let alone perfect order. I deliberately chose an illustration that would work well with light, bright colors, but when I tried coloring in the whole sun using just the pastel markers, I quickly concluded that I prefer using a mix of light and dark colors in my artwork. Obviously cheaper plastic is a reason for the marker's price point, but this could be an annoyance if it kept peeling and eventually broke. The downside of this set-up is that if you remove a bunch of markers from a section which you are very likely to do when you are in the flow and you need quick access to a few different color groups for blending , the remaining markers can easily get jostled around and moved out of order. This isn't necessarily the issue, though. If you combine this set with the set that I reviewed above, you'll have a nice well-rounded set of markers with a solid range from light to dark across the color spectrum!
